ESD Fire Fighters
Recently Bastrop County ESD #1
hired a district-wide fire chief. The ESD has also hired 3 firefighters and a maintenance technician. This means
that Bluebonnet VFD no longer has paid fire fighters and is solely a volunteer organization. We welcome the change to
have Bastrop County ESD 1 directly employee paid firefighters and welcome the new district-wide Chief Brandon Bancroft.
This move means significant changes to the 3 departments within the ESD. It is an exciting time for all of us.

2008 FEMA AFG Grant
On August 21st, 2009 we received official notice that we have been awarded a FEMA AFG grant (Assitance to Firefighters Grant) worth $111,798. This grant will allow our
department to purchase 2 new Thermal Imaging Cameras, 6 sets of bunker gear, new helmets for all of our members, a generator for our Cedar Creek station and a generate for
our Still Forest station (so we will have power even in the event of a natural disaster or other emergencies), firefighter and trainer training, as well as some vaccinations
and physicals for our members. For more information about AFG grants click here.

Burn Ban Lifted
Bastrop County is no longer under a burn ban. Burn with caution.
Controlled Burns
If you wish to perform a controlled burn please call the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office at 303-1080. This will potentially
prevent us from visiting you unnecessarily. FireCAP is also a good place to go to learn
how to reduce your wildland fire risks.
Donations Accepted
