Burn Ban

A burn ban is now in effect.

New Apparatus

So far this year Bluebonnet VFD has received 2 apparatus from the ESD. The first was Engine 6. This engine was bought brand new and is housed at our Cedar Creek station and replaced Engine 8. The second is Tanker 10. This tanker/pumper was part of a trade with 5 Points and was previously known as 5P Tanker 514. It is housed at our 969 station and brings much needed capability and reliability to that area of our district. Engine 9 is now housed over at Still Forest as a backup apparatus for now. This completes the first phase of replacing the oldest vehicles in Bluebonnet's fleet. There is a 3rd apparatus on its way that will replace Squad 41.

About Us

Bluebonnet Volunteer Fire Department is a volunteer fire department covering Cedar Creek, Wyldwood, Utley, and surrounding areas. We are part of Bastrop ESD #1. We have 3 stations throughout the coverage area, housing a total of 3 engines, 3 brush trucks, 1 tanker, 1 Squad, 'Mobile Air 1' (used to fill our SCBA bottles on the scene), and - our most recent addition - SR71, which is a 6WD Polaris Ranger.

Aside from 2 paid staff members during weekdays, this is a largely volunteer organization. New members are always welcome. No experience is necessary. You will find a group of people more than willing to get you up-to-speed quickly...but more importantly, safely. We have meetings every Thursday night at 7:00 or 7:30. See our 'Calendar' page for the location of our meetings. Maps to our stations can be found by clicking on the station name at the bottom of most pages.

If you are interested in joining, download an application here and bring it to a Thursday night meeting.

If you wish to perform a controlled burn please call the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office at 303-1080. This will potentially prevent us from visiting you unnecessarily. FireCAP is also a good place to go to learn how to reduce your wildland fire risks.

Feel free to browse our pages to find out more about what we are about. If you are looking to donate, please click on the Donation link at the top right of this page. No donation is too small. Your donations will go a long way toward helping BBVFD maintain top-notch service to our community.
